Hello and welcome to my professional space on the web! I'm Chris Yarbrough, a cybersecurity specialist based in South Texas. This blog is a window into my world of cybersecurity, IT trends, and leadership in technology.

Who am I?

With a solid foundation in various IT specializations, I bring a rich blend of skills in cybersecurity, networking, IT support, project management, web design, and development, coupled with a knack for IT training. My academic background in organizational leadership has been the cornerstone of my journey, enabling me to combine technical prowess with strategic leadership.

My Cybersecurity Journey

Currently, I serve as a Cybersecurity Risk Analyst at for a large financial institution in South Texas, where I immerse myself in threat and vulnerability analytics, secure email environment administration, and risk management. My role involves a spectrum of responsibilities, from conducting security analysis to developing plans and programs that bolster the organization's security posture.

On the side I also oversee Media and Creative Development at a local church, blending technology with creativity and leadership development. Here, I focus on maintaining our online presence, ensuring compliance with digital privacy laws, and spearheading leadership development initiatives.

Previously, as an IT support professional for a large national retailer, I honed my skills in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair, emphasizing secure configurations, client training, and malware identification and removal.

My Roots in Technology

My tech journey began when I was introduced to computing at a young age using a Windows 98 desktop. I fell in love with technology, computing, and gaming. This love of technology, LEGOs, and science kits fed my desire to troubleshoot, discover, and learn about the world around me.

When I was in high school, I helped out with technology and the a/v team at my local church, and after going to college, I was able to get a job at a church helping with technology and eventually becoming the IT director and developed a passion for developing and growing my skills in networking, coding, and security, as well as general IT and hardware support.

Certifications and Skills

I am constantly expanding my expertise through certifications through Google, ISC2, CompTIA, GAQM, INE, and many others. With a passion for continual learning, I am always acquiring additional skills, certifications, and education.
